Attorney Scott C. Magaw was born in Pocatello, Idaho. He was raised in Greensburg, Westmoreland County, where he graduated from Greensburg Salem High School. He attended the Univeristy of Miami in Miami, Florida where he recieved a double major in marine science and biology and graduated with a bachelor of science. He attened the University of Miami School of Law where he was a member of the law review and graduated cum laude with his jurist decorate degree. After law school he worked in Miami, where he gained a wide variety of legal experience. The experience included straight forward claims of property damage arising from car accidents and expanded into medical malpractice claims and other personal injury claims including claims against a bar owner for the failure to protect a customer from being assulted by another customer who had been drinking. He was also involved in the Haitian refugee crisis from proofreading the Haitian refugees brief before the Unites States Supreme Court and watching oral argument in the United States Supreme Court during law school to assisting the prosecution of a claim against the United States for its treatment of those refugees while they were detained in jail. He also assisted in the attempt to form a professional sports union for Jai-alai players in the Unites States. The Jai-alai players called a strike that was the longest professional sports strike in history. His experience included representing the strikers in legal proceedings to working the picket lines. When he return to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania he initially worked exclusively in personal injury claims including airplane crashes. While each and every case is unique, some cases have been memorable such as claims against schools by particpants in clinical studies for their injuries arising from harassment and a bad faith claim against an insurance company after it initially sued its insured to deny coverage.
